The title of « maître-restaurateur » (master restaurateur), awarded by the government, recognises the excellence of the best professionals in the traditional restaurant business, rewarding their skill and their commitment to quality. The « maître-restaurateur » is committed to serving food cooked on site from fresh ingredients: the scheme promotes « home-made » food. The « maître-restaurateur » also guarantees the quality of service and the welcome offered by the restaurant. They can display an official plaque at the entrance to the restaurant and use the title in all their marketing materials. This raises their profile in the eyes of customers and the rest of the profession.
In addition, in order to reward this initiative in favour of quality and modernising the sector, obtaining the title makes restaurant owners eligible for a tax credit on investments, including Tournus equipment. It was only natural for Tournus to associate itself with promoting French expertise in cuisine and hospitality.
